Bittersweet will be hosting the 3rd annual spring fundraiser, Celebrating Possibilities, to celebrate the possibilities and achievements of people with autism on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   

Bittersweet will be showcasing the achievements of those served by Bittersweet.   Products from Bittersweet Creative Arts (fused glass, paintings, woven items), Bittersweet Gardens (homegrown vegetables), and Bittersweet Culinary (homemade cookies, shelf-stable pesto and tomato chutney) will be available for purchase.   The event is rain or shine.  Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online at https://tinyurl.com/CelebratingPossibilities2017.    

Dan Cummins from WTOL11 will be the guest master of ceremonies. 

Appetizers from Cocina de Carlos in Waterville, Swig in Perrysburg, and the famous Tony's Packo's will be provided.  

Bittersweet Culinary and So Many Something's Desseterie in Perrysburg will be providing desserts.  

Maumee Bay Brewing Company will be hosting a beer sampling during the event.  

Local musician, Nick Neenan, will be providing live entertainment throughout the evening.

Raffle items and games of chance will occur throughout the evening.   

Rick Thielen is the chairman of the event.

Bittersweet will also be presenting the Derek Arbutiski Award to outgoing executive director of Bittersweet, Vicki Obee.  The award honors the dedication of community members for their tireless support advancing the interests of adults with autism.    Vicki Obee has championed for those with autism and developmental disabilities for over 30 years.   For fourteen years she was executive director of Bittersweet.  During her time as director, she achieved funding for major building projects and developed educational and consultation endeavors.   She grew residential opportunities, vocational and day programs, summer camps, and international educational events.  She helped to develop the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, Bittersweet Creative Arts program, and Bittersweet Culinary program.
