2024 Annual Report
LETTER FROM THE INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Members, Supporters, and Friends of the Bittersweet Community,
As I reflect on the past several months as the Executive Director of Bittersweet Farms, I am filled with immense gratitude and excitement for the future. It is truly an honor to lead this incredible organization, and I am energized by the wonderful things we have in store for 2025. I extend my deepest appreciation to our dedicated Board of Directors for their time, energy, and unwavering service, which have been instrumental in continuing to advance our mission. To our generous donors, thank you for your continued support; your contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
I would also like to recognize the outstanding efforts of our Leadership teams and the entire Bittersweet Farms staff. Their dedication and resilience over the past year have been nothing short of extraordinary. Through their unwavering support and willingness to adapt to change, they have ensured that Bittersweet Farms continues to thrive. Their commitment to our participants and collaborative spirit in all endeavors are at the heart of everything we accomplish.
2024 has been marked by several significant achievements that I am proud to highlight.
· Successfully restarted the summer camp program, serving more than 15 youth and providing them with meaningful opportunities for growth and connection.
Social and recreational programs were revitalized in both Northwest Ohio and Lima, offering participants enriching experiences that foster community engagement.
Completion of a comprehensive market analysis of all positions, leading to wage adjustments that ensured our employees were compensated fairly for their invaluable contributions.
Continued progress on year two of our three-year strategic plan, setting the stage for even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
Implemented an on-site compost program in Whitehouse, diverting 455 pounds of food waste from the landfill during our first season.
Celebrated Bittersweet’s Direct Support Professional, Laine Evans, who was selected as the 2024 OPRA DSP of the Year.
Pemberville enjoyed a new playset, and ninja set, increasing recreational and aerobic opportunities for our participants.
Provided the CALM app subscription to support mental health and self-care among our staff and participants.
Looking back on 2024, we have much to applaud. These achievements would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our Board, staff, donors, and supporters. Your dedication to the mission of Bittersweet Farms is an inspiration, and I am deeply grateful for your partnership.
Thank you for all that you do to support Bittersweet Farms. Here is to an even brighter 2025!
Warmly,
Megan Thompson
