Bittersweet Farms Seeks Direct Support Professionals to Join World-Renowned Team

Whitehouse, OH… In 1983, Bittersweet Farms became the first farmstead-based program for adults with autism in the United States. Today, we are seeking dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our world-renowned team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

Direct Support Professionals are the backbone of Bittersweet’s mission, providing person-centered care and supports to the individuals who live and work on the Farm. In the residential setting, DSPs positively impact lives by assisting with household tasks, accompanying residents on outings, and offering meaningful and enjoyable activities. In the vocational setting, DSPs support participants’ learning and growth in diverse programs including Culinary, Gardens, Creative Arts, and Animal Care.

Executive Director, Dustin Watkins, who himself began his career with Bittersweet more than 20 years ago as a DSP, holds this work in the highest regard. Mr. Watkins says, “It is a privilege to work directly with the individuals we serve each and every day. At its core, being a DSP is about building relationships and positively impacting lives, and this work is mutual—it will impact your life as well.”

Bittersweet is proud to offer new Direct Support Professionals competitive wages of up to $15.00 per hour based on shift and program. The organization is currently offering a hiring bonus of up to $1,000 for new second-shift residential DSPs. All DSPs receive a retention bonus three times a year. Experience is not necessary and paid training is provided.
