Summer Campers Make Memories, Build Skills at Bittersweet Farms

Whitehouse, OH – Bittersweet Farms is thrilled to welcome 16 adolescent participants, ages 12-22, for its award-winning Summer Camp for adolescents with autism. Taking place throughout June and July, this crucial program provides a consistent routine during the summer months, fun and engaging activities, and community integration for students with autism from local school districts across Northwest Ohio.

Campers enjoy a variety of fun activities, including daily swimming, crafts, and games, all designed to enhance their social skills and promote independence. The program also includes community outings throughout the region, such as visiting the Metroparks, Imagination Station, Stevens Gardens, and more, providing diverse learning and recreational experiences.

Bittersweet’s 2024 Summer Camp is made possible by generous support of the local community through Giving Tuesday and funding from the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “Bittersweet Farms is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of individuals with autism across their lifespan,” says Abby Ritzman, Program Services Director at Bittersweet Farms. “Our summer camp is an expression of that mission by providing a supportive environment for our youngest participants to make memories, build relationships, and prepare for a successful school year ahead.”
